Great work so far, I really appreciate the many small details!
Some technical feedback:
-At the save-points the hint is to press up. Up is really up with my joypad (I aim up with it), but to save I have to hit the left shoulder-button
-Scrolling could by a bit smoother and not locked so hard on the player, even small movements always trigger scrolling (if you know what I mean?). I suffer from gaming-sickness, but usually have no problems with 2d-games at all (recently played cave-story for hours ;), somehow the scrolling is really tiresome to my eyes
Hello Hempuli. I have been following your game for a while and am super excited for it. It looks quite amazing! I just downloaded the demo & voted on greenlight.
If I might provide some feedback, I think the control scheme on gamepad needs to be changed. I’m using a 360 controller – currently Shoot is mapped to B and Jump is mapped to X. This layout makes it difficult to press the Shoot button while holding the Jump button. Jump would work better on the A button (the most common button position for Jump) and Shoot would make much more sense on the X button.
I haven’t played much of the demo so I apologize if I am speaking with incomplete information (I don’t know what the other buttons do yet).
Anyways, will definitely be supporting the game and telling my friends about it. Keep up the good work!
You can change the controls in the Settings > Gamepad C. -menu! :) But I’m happy to get feedback on the default control scheme, preferably that should be as smooth as possible in the final version!
May be controls of gamepad is changeable but it is a bad idea to set directions on analog stick permanently in arcade platformer. In this demo I used keymapper AntiMicro for map keyboards direction buttons on d-pad. I see this uncomfortable scheme in many pc games. Even in some games if game pad is plugged then keyboard is unavailable in gameplay. For some non standard gamepads directions may be permanently placed in unbelievable buttons.
Please make gamepad direction buttons changeable.
And when controls option is switched on gamepad then keyboard controls are lost. It is beter when keyboard allways available in game menu.
There are technical problems that I personally can’t affect that make d-pads not an option (except on gamepads that have no analog sticks; a SNES controller should work, for example). Sorry about that!
As for the other thing, there were some FPS problems if both the pad and keyboard buttons were enabled but no pad was plugged in, but I’ll try to get those sorted out.
Hey, I think this game looks awesome and I’m all for it but I’ve tried it on two Windows computers, one XP and one 7, and it won’t download. I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem but it’s really bumming me…
Do you know why this may be happening?
And awesome game by the way, keep working on it
Actually that should read that it downloaded fine, and I opened it up and it worked until I hit “Start Game.” From there I could hear all the sound effects, such as shooting and opening the map screen, but the screen was dark. I thought switching computers would fix it but it didn’t. Haha I’m kinda disappointed because the game looks really fun.
Not sure if my last reply came through, so I’ll post again to be sure.
I downloaded the game, and it worked fine until I pressed Start Game, and the screen went blank. You could hear the music and sound effects, such as shooting and opening the map screen, but the screen was just black. Kinda disappointed haha, looks like a great game

The scrolling thing is a good point and kind of my weak spot; I don’t know how to help it at the moment :(
Finally I can get my hands on this, the demo is rad so far, great job :)

I’ve no idea what could cause a problem like that; is the download outright blocked or is it just very slow?
